On a clear night, you can look into the sky and see many twinkling lights. Most of these lights are stars (some are planets) and are many many millions of miles away from Earth. They are millions of times larger than Earth, but appear so small because of their distance. They are giant balls of gas, providing heat and light to any nearby planets.
