SITE UPDATES
Any updates to this website will be recorded on this page, so if you're a regular visitor looking for something new, or you're wondering if this website ever gets updated, you can find out here!
LATEST UPDATES
NOVEMBER 2007:
Added a search box to the Main Menu screen - only problem is that the Timeline
of Space Exploration seems to be the top link for everything!
Updated Ask an Alien! Still have loads of questions and answers to add to it,
but the page formatting and links have been sorted making it easier to keep up
to date.
OCTOBER 2007:
Chronology of Space Exploration is finally(!) added to the site. This
large section gives information about all space missions from 1957 to the
present day. The missions can be viewed in the order they happened (split into
time periods of five years), or by destination.
Completed page about Shakespeare's Moons (the Moons of Uranus) with details
about the discovery of the Moons, why they are named after Shakespearean
characters, and a table providing statistics about each Moon and information
about the character they were named after.
Added page about Neptune's Moons
SEPTEMBER 2007:
Music removed from each page of the website. Links to the music files and the
pages they were played on can be obtained here.
JULY 2007:
Added a page about the Discovery of Uranus.
MAY 2007:
Two pages added about the Apollo missions to the Moon. Removed Message
Board due to constant spam and unsuitable messages. Links to Message Board
interstitial page are still there, in case the page returns.
APRIL 2007:
Due to continuous problems with the current Guest Book (plus the fact that it is
almost full) created a new Guest Book. This is likely to be a temporary measure
until the usual Guest Book server becomes more stable.
5th April 2006
Page added about the Hale-Bopp Comet.
26th March 2006
Redesigned the site map page.
23rd January 2006
Added control panel to each page again as the image wasn't loading up. Modified
Visits to Venus, adding a printable version of the page.
22nd January 2006
Added Visits to Venus, a page about missions to Venus from 1961 to the present.
21st January 2006
Added Privacy Policy. Began merging together the Stars section with
the Galaxies section, thus making Stars and Galaxies as one section, leaving a
space on the Main Menu map for a new section about Astronomy and Astronomers
which will feature information about the history of astronomy, how to gaze at
the stars and biographies of famous astronomers. It will also feature a page
about Astrology.
16th January 2006
Began "Ask an Alien" section, a page giving visitors the chance to ask
Bob a question about space and get their answer displayed on the website!
1st January 2006
Amended index pages to say 2006 and added new site counter seeing as I still
can't get the sitemeter one to count correctly.
16th December 2005
Began work on Visits to Venus, a page about missions to explore Venus, focusing
mainly on Russia's Venera missions of the 1960s to 1980s and NASA's
Mariner missions.
14th December 2005
Updated main screens for each of the planets, giving quick statistics, links to
pages in the planet's section, and brief information about the planet. Began
removal of music files. New control panel added to each page with link removed
to each planet's fact file (seeing as this now appears on the planet's
introductory screen and is confused with the 10 facts about each planet link).
This is replaced with a link to a comparison table of all the planets, a useful
page which has existed since 2001 but is difficult to find.
11th December 2005
Bob finally invested in some space on the internet rather than using free space
on AOL and the entire site was moved. The address www.bobthealien.co.uk
now goes directly to the new address and
emails sent from Bob will be from his email address bob@bobthealien.co.uk
rather than from his AOL screen name. The site will also continue to exist at
its original AOL address http://members.aol.com/bobalien99/index.htm
until January 2006 but will no longer be updated. A forum has also been added http://bobthealien.co.uk/index.php
but only one link to it is currently on the site. Movement of the sitemeter
counter, which has since stopped working!
26th October 2005
Quiz links updated so the three quizzes can be
accessed from the Quiz menu (http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/bobalien99/quiz.htm)
New design for the control panel can be seen on
"Is there life on Mars?" page in the Mars section. This panel will
appear on any new pages added to the site, and will eventually appear on all
existing pages.
COMING SOON:
These are pages currently in development for Bob the Alien's Tour of the Solar System. Links below take you to the pages in their unfinished state.
Return to the Moon
- It is over 30 years since man
last went to the Moon. This page will look at how NASA plans to return there in
the next decade.
