Famous Astronomers
Listed in this section of Bob the Alien's Tour of the Solar System are profiles of many famous astronomers. These are people whose observations and discoveries have contributed greatly to our knowledge of the universe. Some may have found new planets, others completely revolutionised our understanding of the Solar System and beyond. Every now and then a new profile will be added so come back again if your favourite astronomer is not yet listed! So far we have profiles of Nicholas Copernicus, considered by many to be the founder of modern astronomy, Edmond Halley who predicted the return of a comet every 76 years and had it named after him. We also have a profile of Edwin Powell Hubble and the man who discovered Pluto, Clyde Tombaugh.
